The man and his bunch are clearly homeland security threats. I'm certain their file is large. Which is why they'll have to sneak in to the UK. I'm hoping for a) serious prison time in the UK or b) one last extraordinary rendition to be questioned as to HOW they intend to BRING ABOUT the apocalypse. Because I suspect they are actively working to do just that.

This should be interesting. I'm sure MI5 has their eyes on the situation but without the cooperation of the NSA there isnt much they can do unless they know exactly wh is coming.
I doubt any jail time would happen, they would more then likley just be deported.
What I do know is, if they come here with the kind of attitude they displayed in that interview it will end very badly for them. Sure the nation was appalled at the 15 year old girl and her 13 year old boyfriend having a baby and yes Gordon Brown is not liked as a PM BUT those issues are OUR issues and if there is one thing that really pisses us brits off its someone we havent invited stuffing their beoleifs down our throats.

Yeah, apologies on behalf of our country. But these assholes are extremists even by the standards of U.S. fundamentalism. They are infamous here for picketing the funerals of soldiers KIA, saying it is a punishment from God for the U.S. "supporting the homosexual agenda."

That didn't win them any friends, even among their own kinds. In this country, Bible-thumping and patriotism usually go hand-in-hand. (Which makes it hard for those of us who patriotic but don't fit that particular mold.)

And I wholly agree, people should stay out of the internal cultural affairs of other countries unless there is a very clear human rights violation involved.

Everyone should tend to their own dirty laundry.

I hope the British can summon up either 1) a crowd of rowdy pirates or 2) a bunch of motorcyclists with angel wings, or 3) some other fit answer, like a pledge drive to counter-demonstrate raising funds FOR the causes these nuts declaim. All things we Americans have come up with, to exercise our own freedom of speech without hypocritically nullifying theirs (even when they say such incredibly stupid and hurtful things).

Of course, an exact right to freedom to speech doesn't quite have the same interpretation in the UK, if I remember my ancient middle-school history correctly. That could be interesting.

I also hope they get relatively little or no press, because that's what they do this for, just to make a big stink.

Oh, dear. Do the Phelpses know that American laws regarding freedom of speech and assembly are not at all the same as UK laws regarding any similar topics? Because I'm pretty sure British anti-terrorism and anti-human-rights-violation laws will allow them to treat these people properly, and the fact that Phelps and his spawn are almost all lawyers isn't going to save them....
