Those of you at Nikki's birthday party Tuesday know I was supposed to call my sister and Mom after I left that night. It's never good news when my sister calls me.

Well, I called back, and it wasn't good.

Dad has cancer in his chest, spine, pelvis, groin, and right hip. They've already determined that it's inoperable; it's actually affecting bone tissue.

We don't know for sure yet, but since it has metastatized so far, I'm betting that radiation and chemo are, at best, stopgaps.

I've been ignoring it for the last couple of days, because the more I think about it, the less I want to think about it, y'know?

I am so sorry about the news of your dad. It's not an easy road that lies ahead, watching one of your parents suffer. I understand the denial wish totally. But there comes a time when you can't bottle these things up any more. There are people who care about you here, let us help. Use a filter for those you can share your deepest feelings with if you need to but reach out. There are people there.
