Oh, man! I remember it so well! I had directed an amateur production of "The Drunkard." My mother was amazed that I didn't just cancel the show that night, but because it was a fundraiser, I didn't want to do that. However, about 3 minutes after the news was broadcast, I walked out onto the stage in the middle of a scene, walked to the apron, and announced, "Folks, if ever there was a show stopper, this is it! The United States has just landed on the moon!" The applause was overwhelming!
Then we returned them to their regularly scheduled Drunkard.

My earliest memory is of a funny man in a big white suit bouncing around in slow motion on my parent's huge console TV (it was bigger than I was!). I was three years old.
