Bristol trip...

Nikki and I were discussing a trip to Bristol faire in Wisconsin the last weekend of July; anybody else want to come along? Taking Amtrak the total fare is $183.00; leaves Lawrence at 5:45 AM on 7/24, arrives in Chicago at 3:30PM; return trip comes back 7/27 at 3:15, arrives back here at 12:45 AM (just after midnight, in other words.)

Any takers? Nikki, this work for you? Let me know soon and I'll book the train tickets.

EDIT: I was also planning on renting a car; there's a Hertz rental agency in Union Station in Chicago. Also, since the train doesn't leave until 3:15 in the afternoon, I was also thinking of hitting the Museum of Science and Industry Monday morning...

You *do* realize that the faire site is a little over an hour from downtown Chicago (about 54 miles), right? It's just across the Wisconsin-Illinois border west and a tiny bit south of Kenosha.

If you've got available car transport from the Chicago area, it's not a problem; otherwise, you will most likely need to rent a car.

I wish I could, but given that that's one of my VERY few not-out-of-town weekends, and may have to be the weekend of the kids' birthday party, there's no way I can go.
