Oh, man! I remember it so well! I had directed an amateur production of "The Drunkard." My mother was amazed that I didn't just cancel the show that night, but because it was a fundraiser, I didn't want to do that. However, about 3 minutes after the news was broadcast, I walked out onto the stage in the middle of a scene, walked to the apron, and announced, "Folks, if ever there was a show stopper, this is it! The United States has just landed on the moon!" The applause was overwhelming! Then we returned them to their regularly scheduled Drunkard.
